Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- In a wet and rainy night, the George Fox men's soccer team took on the visiting Bearcats of Willamette University in a Northwest Conference match-up under the lights.
The Bearcats (9-4-1, 6-1-1 NWC) netted two late second period goals to beat the Bruins (2-10-1, 0-8 NWC).
The score was knotted at half, as the Bruins dominated the entire first period out-shooting the Bearcats, 7-3. Luke Hammer led the Bruins with six shots on the night.
The Bearcats first goal came in the 78th minute after Yazan Hishmeh put a ball at Alan Hernandez's feet, who then found the back of the net with a one-on-one in the box. The second goal came in the 89th minute when Stefan Wutte took a free kick from 30 yards out. The ball took a wet skip inside the box and slid into the back of the net.
The Bruins out-shot the Bearcats 14-11, and held most of the possession the entire game.
Ricardo Sotelo received the start for the Bruins and recorded four saves on the night.
The Bruins will play again on Sunday, Oct. 19 against Linfield College at 2:30 p.m.
