Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- On a cloudy and chilly day, the George Fox University's men's soccer team hosted the University of Puget Sound in a Northwest Conference match-up and fell 1-0.
The Loggers (12-4-2, 9-2-1 NWC) entered the match as the number three team in the NWC standings.
UPS gathered four corner kicks in the first period, but a tenacious Bruins defense held the Loggers to just two shots. In fact, the Bruins also managed two shots in the first period with one coming from Joel Schierman well outside the box. Schierman's shot took a hard skip and almost snuck by the Loggers' goalkeeper.
Both teams went into the half tied at 0-0.
The Loggers didn't waste any time in the second period drawing their fifth corner of the match. The kick was placed in the box and after being kicked around from many defenders found the feet of Logger' Sam Zisette, who netted the game winner. The goal came in the 59th minute.
The Bruins didn't go down without a fight firing off five shots in the second period. The Bruins recorded seven shots on the day as seven different players all recorded a shot.
Murray Noble received the start in the net for the Bruins and faced 11 shots, while recording one save.
