Box Score 2 IRVING, Texas – With
outstanding pitching from their three hurlers and some big hits in
key situations, the George Fox University Bruins continued their
rampage through the Lone Star State with an 8-1, 7-0 doubleheader
sweep of the University of Dallas Crusaders in non-conference
softball action Sunday afternoon here at Crusader Field.
Game 1 - George Fox 8, at Dallas

Erin Hento and Amanda Woods combined on a five-hitter and
Baylee Westrick went 3-4 with a double, home run and four runs
batted in as the Bruins cruised to the first-game win. Hento
threw three innings of shutout ball, spacing three hits with five
strikeouts and no walks. Woods (1-0) got the win with four
innings of two-hit ball, fanning two and walking one while allowing
one unearned run in the 7th.
The Bruins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st
as Courtney Howard drew a bases-loaded walk, Kayla Anderson scored
on an error, and Becca Olson delivered Woods with a sacrifice fly.
Ashley Bunce scored on Kat Hylton's sacrifice fly in the 2nd,
and Westrick capped the Bruins' scoring with a two-run homer
to left in the 5th, her second of the season, and a two-run double
in the 7th.
George Fox had eight hits off two Dallas pitchers, with
starter Ashley Pickert (0-1) taking the loss. In addition to
Westrick's big game, Hylton was 2-3 with two runs scored, and
Howard also scored twice.
Game 2 - George Fox 7, at Dallas

Allyssa DenDekker (2-0) threw her second straight complete
game and first shutout in the nightcap, surrendering only two hits
with two strikeouts and one walk. Those were the only three
runners she allowed as the George Fox defense played flawlessly,
and only one runner reached second.
Felicia Chavez led off the game with the first of her two
triples and scored on a single by Anderson to give the Bruins a
quick advantage, and they put the game away with a six-run
4th. Westrick drove in the first run of the frame with an RBI
double, Monica Martinez drove in one with a single, then Chavez
tripled with the sacks full and scored on Hylton's sacrifice
fly.
Chavez and Westrick had two hits each out of the
Bruins' total of nine, Westrick with a second double as
well. Chloe Campise (0-1) allowed eight hits and all seven
George Fox runs in 4.1 innings to suffer the setback.
NEXT: After a day off, the
Bruins (4-0), who swept Southwestern University Saturday in
Georgetown, complete their Texas travels with a doubleheader at
Concordia University-Austin at Old Settlers Park in suburban Cedar
Park. The first game begins at 11:00 a.m. Central time (9:00
a.m. Pacific) … Dallas (0-2) host the Southwestern
Assemblies of God University Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Central
time.
