NEWBERG, Ore. --- Luis Rangel's first-half brace fired the Bruins to their first victory of the season on Monday night, as they dispatched visitors Warner Pacific, 3-0. Though Warner Pacific went on the attack in the second half of play, Miguel Lopez's clever finish in the 58th minute sealed the win for the Bruins, who did well defensively to see the match out.

Tuesday's game was certainly a match of two distinct halves. After securing the vast majority of possession in the first half, and launching eleven shots on goal in the first forty-five minutes of play, the Bruins opened the scoring in the 19thminute. Trevor Martin got loose and played a textbook cross into the box, which found Luis Rangel and, promptly, the back of the net. Just before halftime, in the 40th minute, Joab Logan curled a very similar ball into the mixer, and again Rangel was the first to it, slotting the cross into the net and gifting the Bruins a 2-0 lead.
The Bruins emerged from the halftime break and immediately rode out a spell of possession for the Knights, during which keeper Ricardo Sotelo made a fine save on a shot from Warner Pacific's Will Brewer. Soon after, though, the Bruins broke from their half, and Rowan Blake sent Miguel Lopez through to goal with an excellently weighted ball. Lopez's shot avoided Knights' keeper Joe White, and the Bruins' 3-0 lead put the match well out of reach.
Top Performers:
Rangel's brace came on just three shots. Joab Logan, who assisted on Rangel's first goal, had four shots, and Trevor Martin, who served the cross for the second goal, had a fine shot stopped. Sotelo gathered five saves, as Warner Pacific's finishing proved lackluster: though they totaled 24 shots, only five were on target.
What Comes Next:
With the win, the Bruins even their record at 1-1, and they'll have a chance to push over .500 Tuesday night, as they host Corban at 6:00 p.m.
