WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The George Fox men's soccer team traveled to Washington to take on top-ranked Whitman College Saturday, as the Bruins fell, 3-0.
Recap:
The Bruins had a quick shot on goal in the fourth minute, but the shot was saved by the opposing keeper. The remainder of the first half was highly competitive as both teams attempted to outmaneuver the opposition.
George Fox was able to out-pace Whitman in first half shots, 8-7, but it was Whitman who struck first with a goal in the 43rd minute, setting the score at 1-0 going into the half.
The Bruins were able to keep Whitman from scoring for the majority of the second half, but were offensively unable to overcome the one-point deficit.
Whitman scored two goals late in the second half in the 78th and 86th minutes to close out the game.
Top Performers:
Freshman forward Dennis Zapata paced the George Fox offense with two shots, one of which hit the keeper. Goalkeeper Ricardo Sotelo had a whopping 10 saves for the Bruins through the 90 minutes of play.
What's Next:
The Bruins travel to Whitworth to take on the Pirates in a conference matchup Sunday at 2:30p.m.
