Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. --- Joel Schierman led the George Fox men's soccer game Sunday, as the Bruins lost a close 2-1 game to the Pirates of Whitworth University.

Schierman helped the Bruins take the early lead after finding the back of the net in the 12th minute. Schierman drilled a ball from midfield that sailed over the keeper's head for a spectacular goal. The Pirates responded before half, putting in the equalizer off a header from a cross.
Both teams went into halftime tied, 1-1.
The Pirates maintained possession for most of the second period, but it came off sporadic shots. The Pirates tallied 17 shots in the second period, but only six were on frame. The Bruins' defense frustrated the Pirates, who continued to force shots in the final 45 minutes of play. A through ball came into the box in the 77th minute, and the Pirates scored the game-winner on a Drew Williams goal.
The Bruins recorded six shots on the day, with four on frame. The Pirates recorded 28 shots, but only 10 were on goal.
Top Performers:
Schierman scored his second goal of the season. Daniel Alonzo, Trevor Martin and Dennis Zapata all recorded one shot on goal.
