NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox men's soccer team hosted the Boxers of Pacific Saturday in a competitive conference matchup, with the result coming as a 2-0 loss.

Recap:
The home team controlled the game in the first half, outpacing the opposition in shots, 8-7. In a particularly aggressive four-minute sequence of play between the 33^rd and 37^th minutes, the Bruins were able to take three good shots at the opposing goal. Unfortunately for the home team, the first hit the crossbar, the second was saved by the keeper and the third soared just wide.  

The Bruins had a chance to score late in the first half with the offense earning a penalty kick in the 43^rd minute. Midfielder Miguel Lopez lined up and took aim at the bottom left corner, but the opposing keeper was able to make an impressive save keeping the score at 0-0 heading into halftime.

The visiting Boxers were able to score in the 55^th minute, setting the score at 1-0.

Not to go without a fight, the Bruins looked to retaliate with a shot hitting the opposing crossbar in the 57^th minute and a shot being saved in the 61^st minute, but the opposition was again able to score in the 67^th minute, making the score 2-0.

The Bruins had the chance to put one in at the 83-minute mark with a header shot by forward Trevor Martin, but the opposing keeper was able to keep it out of the back of the net.

Top Performers:
Lopez paced the George Fox offense with three shots, all of which were on goal. Forwards Daniel Alonzo and Martin also chipped in three shots apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Austin Burdick got the start tonight and tallied six saves through the 90 minutes of play.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins look to take a crack at the conference-best Whitworth Pirates at home next Friday, Oct. 14 at 7p.m.
