Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox men's soccer team needed more than regulation Friday night, as the Bruins fell in overtime to Pacific, 2-1.
Recap:
The night started in favor of the Boxers, as the home team kept control of the ball for most of the first half. In fact, Boxes' Jake Castanha was able to tap in a ball off a low cross from Weli Alamillo for the first goal of the game.
The Bruins' backend did well to keep the Boxers out of the net, as Andrew Phillis and company left the Boxers to fire off shots nowhere near the net.
The Bruins and the Boxers went into the half with the game standing at 1-0 in favor of the home team.
The Bruins were on the attack in the second half, as Moises Manon gave relief to the score with the equalizer. Trevor Martin setup the play in the early going firing a ball off a cross. Manon received the ball and drilled a shot from 21 yards out to the upper far post for the 1-1 tie.
After the final minutes and the whistle blowing, both teams gathered again for extra time.
The Boxers were able to come out on top with a ball in the 98th minute to end the game off a low shot form inside the box.
Top Performers:
The Bruins managed four shots with the lone goal coming from Manon. Phillis went 97:40 minutes for the Bruins with one save. The Boxers fired off 20 shots in the game, but were only able to put five on goal.
What It Means:
The Bruins are now 4-9 on the season and 2-5 in the NWC.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins travel to Puget Sound next to take on the Loggers Saturday, Oct. 14, at 12pm.
