NEWBERG --- The George Fox men's soccer team hosted Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, losing 3-0 to the conference powerhouse Lutes.
Recap:
After 28 minutes of back-and-forth play, Trevor Martin got it going with a shot that was narrowly deflected by the keeper, leading to a set piece attempt for the Bruins.
It was the Lutes who found the back of the net, however, scoring in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 lead before halftime.
Pacific Lutheran came out of the break hot, finding the back of the net once again in the 50th minute, setting the score at 2-0.
George Fox had the opportunity to chip into the lead as they earned a penalty kick in the 59th minute, but they were unable to convert as the Lutes remained ahead.
Pacific Lutheran struck once more in the 80th minute, bending in a free kick to set the score at 3-0, which the Bruins were ultimately unable to overcome.
Top Performers:
Martin led the way with three shots and Tyson Horn took two shots of his own to round out the Bruins' offensive effort.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 2-9-2 overall and 1-6-2 in conference play.
