McMINNVILLE --- The George Fox men's soccer team played Linfield on the road on Saturday, losing a close conference matchup, 2-1.
Recap:
The Bruins got on the board early and in style. William Rudd sent in a free kick from 40 yards out and the ball was headed into the back of the net by a waiting Moises Manon. The set piece goal gave the Bruins the lead in just the third minute of play, 1-0.
The Wildcats responded with a goal in the 15th minute, tying the game at one apiece.
After the early pair of goals, neither team was able to find the back of the net as the time ran into half, 1-1.
The Bruins came out of the halftime break aggressive, putting a shot on goal in the opening minutes of the final period.
It was the Wildcats who struck next, however, managing to find pay dirt in the 65th minute to go up by one, 2-1.
The Bruins had a couple chances late, but were ultimately unable to capitalize as the time ran out, 2-1.
Top Performers:
Manon paced the Bruins on offense today, recording two shots and a goal. Rudd assisted on the scoring effort.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 1-7-2 in conference play and are now 2-10-2 overall.
