NEWBERG --- The George Fox men's soccer team hosted the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday, earning a draw against their top-ranked conference opponents, 1-1.
Recap:
The Bearcats came out aggressive, but the Bruins were able to fend off the offensive onslaught.
George Fox was able to set up their own offense later in the first half, creating a string of chances around the 37-minute mark which resulted in a pair of set piece attempts.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net through the first 45.
The beginning of the second half saw both sides create solid chances, but it was the Bruins who struck first. Freshman defender Jeremy Ravelo-Ramano hit a volley from the left side which soared past the opposing keeper, giving the home team the lead in the 72nd minute, 1-0.
The Bearcats equalized in the 87th minute to sent the game into extra time.
In the second period of extra time, the Bruins locked in and successfully defended a last ditch effort by the Bearcats to steal the game.
George Fox earned a solid draw against their high-powered opponents, 1-1.
Top Performers:
Ravelo-Ramano scored the Bruins lone goal in the contest. Moises Manon applied consistent pressure throughout, recording three shots. Sophomore Cole Benton stepped in and had a phenomenal game in goal for the Bruins, saving a whopping eight shots in 110 minutes.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 1-7-3 in conference play.

The Bruins take on Whitman on the road on Saturday at 2:30pm.
