SPOKANE --- The George Fox men's soccer team took on Whitworth on the road on Sunday, earning a draw against their conference opponents, 1-1.
Recap:
The Pirates struck first, finding the back of the net in the 22nd minute to take an early lead.
George Fox had a difficult time setting up their offense in the opening period, registering only two shots in the first 45 minutes.
It did not take long for the Bruins to respond after the start of the second half. Jeremy Ravelo-Ramano took a shot which was blocked by the defense, then Bryce Towne appeared for the rebound and sent the ball past the keeper, tying the score at one apiece.
The Bruins applied consistent pressure on the Pirates through the remainder of the second half, outshooting the opposition 8-6 in that span. Neither team was able to score the game-winner as the teams went into extra time.
In the first period of added time, Jackson Keller registered two shots and in the second period of added time, Towne registered three shots, all of which were on frame.
Neither side was able to score through extra time as the contest ended in a draw, 1-1.
Top Performers:
Towne was a terror on offense in this one, scoring the Bruins' lone goal on top of racking up five shots, all of which were on target. Keller was on his game today as well, finishing with four shots, two of which were on frame.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 1-8-4 in conference play and 2-11-4 overall.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins wrap up their season with a road matchup against Pacific on Friday at 7:00pm.
