NEWBERG --- The George Fox men's soccer team hosted Linfield in a hard-fought Sunday afternoon matchup, with the result being a draw between the conference rivals, 1-1.
Recap:
The Bruins created a couple of offensive chances early in the first half, earning their first corner kick in just the fifth minute. They had some success applying pressure on the Linfield defense in the first 45 minutes, outshooting the opposition 5-2.
Neither team was able to score in the first period of play as the time expired at the half, 0-0.
The Bruins didn't take long to strike in the second half, netting a goal in just the 49th minute to take the lead at the beginning of the final period of play. Isaiah Carrillo sent a cross in on a corner kick, and Gabe Ramirez managed to get his head on the ball and direct it into the back of the net, 1-0.
The Wildcats responded with a late goal, tying up the game in the 80th minute, also coming off of a set piece.
Neither side was able to score in the final minutes as the teams went into additional time.
The Bruins had a couple chances to score in the second period of extra time. Trevor Martin had a header shot that was saved by the Wildcat keeper, keeping George Fox from stealing the game in the final minutes.
The game ended in a draw, 1-1, and snaps the Bruins' losing streak in Northwest Conference play.
Top Performers:
Ramirez had the Bruins' lone goal in the contest with a beautiful header coming off of the corner by Carrillo. Martin played solid on the offensive end as well, tallying three shots, two of which were on goal. Micah Rickard contributed three shots as well.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 0-3-1 in conference and 1-6-1 overall.

The Bruins continue conference play with a road matchup against Pacific Lutheran on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
