Bruins Settle for 1-1 Draw at Pacific (Ore.)

Box Score

FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox men's soccer team engaged in a marathon of a match with Pacific (Ore.) that ended with no decision on Saturday afternoon. Ohm Harape scored the Bruins' lone goal in the 1-1 tie at Hanson Stadium.

Recap

The Bruins struck first as Ohm Harape capitalized on a Boxer error in just the third minute of play. The freshman fielded a pass from Pacific keeper Jack Cuevas and with one touch, buried a shot in the back of the empty net. Harape now holds a share in the three-way tie for team scoring leader with two goals on the season.

Boxers' Grant Lutredge leveled the match at 1-1 29 minutes later as he headed in a perfect cross. Lutredge has been a threat all season and now leads their team in scoring.

With seconds to go in the first, the Boxers put up another header that beat keeper Cole Benton, but a Bruin defender cleared it in time to outlast the first half.

The aggressive and chippy match only escalated as both teams were now eager to win in 90. The Boxers held a 6-3 shooting advantage entering the break, but the Bruins fought back and were outshot just 5-4 in the second period.

Cards were dished out like candy throughout, but the referee dealt dual red cards with 17 minutes to go in regulation. In game-changing fashion, the contest dropped to 10 on 10.

Another difficult header from Fox was punched out by Cuevas, holding the 1-1 tie as the clock ticked down. Both teams had looks on goal, but the exciting game would head into overtime.

The Bruins wasted no time in transitioning back down the field after the Boxers took dangerous shots that forced new keeper Richie Seaman to warm up quickly. Playing man-down exhausted both squads, and neither would score the difference-maker in overtime.
