Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox men's soccer team shutout Multnomah, 1-0, in the season premiere on Friday evening at Austin Sports Complex. The Bruins dominated offensively through the entirety of the game, but it was Sophomore Tyson Horn who found the back of the net in the second half.
Recap:
Fox established control early on as freshman Ohm Harape took his first stab at goal in the opening minute. Nine different Bruins would attempt to crack the Lions' defense in the first period.
Fouls littered both sides throughout the game as Multnomah struggled to make way into their host's zone. The Bruins repeatedly created scoring opportunities but Lions' goalie Adam Moorhead was too much for their frontline.
The Lions kept the Bruins at bay entering intermission and staved them off until minute 68. Both teams exchanged possession at midfield until freshman Connor Flolo chipped a pass that settled perfectly in front of Horn, setting him up for his first-career goal.
The Bruins maintained their lead as time wound down, despite their many efforts to distance themselves from the Lions. MU crept closer towards into Fox territory late in the game but the push came too late and neither team would score again.
Top Performers:
Horn put Moorhead to work, rattling off a team-high nine shots with two on goal. Harape led a battering of the backline in his debut, taking five shots while Sean Beuckens, Kevin Garcia, and Cole Bautista each took three of their own. All in all, 10 different Bruins placed shots on frame in their time on the pitch.
