NEWBERG, Ore. --- Oregon Institute of Technology edged the George Fox men's soccer team 1-0 on a muggy Friday afternoon at Austin Sports Complex.

The Bruins almost fell behind after a slow start for both teams, but keeper Sebastian Lopez's quick reaction kept Daniel Blessinger off the board early on.

The Owls used crisp passing and solid footwork to maintain control through much of the first half. Despite managing to shake their opponents on four accounts, the Bruins were unable to find the net.

Blessinger continued to be the Owls dominating force in the opening minutes of the second half. The senior was able to pick off a backline pass and beat the keeper on the left side, netting the game-winner in the 46th minute.

Owl keeper Mitchell Jillson was issued a yellow card minutes later, setting Jackson Keller up with a penalty shot. Keller's shot missed the mark, but the Bruins came back firing on all cylinders and evened out possession throughout the second.

Lopez and his backline spoiled several of OIT's chances and no other Owl would crack the Fox defense again. However, the same would be said for the Bruins as time wound down and the lone goal proved to be enough for Oregon Tech.

Top Performers:

Fox keeper Sebastian Lopez made seven saves on the day, keeping Oregon Teach off the board for 47 minutes. The first half saw OIT hold a large shooting advantage, but Keller put both his second-half shots on goal with Simon Dye taking a chance of his own. Ohm Harape and Tyson Horn each took two shots apiece.

What It Means:

The Bruins fall to 1-2 on the season while Horn currently leads the team with a goal, 12 shots, and three shots on goal.

George Fox ends its long homestand by hosting La Verne tomorrow, September 7, at 2 p.m.
