NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team secured a 2-0 win over Pacific (Ore.) after scoring two goals late in Saturday's Northwest Conference matchup.
How it Happened
Though the first half was scoreless, the Bruins were aggressive on offense, taking 14 shots to keep the pressure on the Boxers. Boxer goalkeeper Catherine Corbett was kept on her toes, recording seven saves in the first half alone to keep GFU in check.
The Pacific defense was only able to stave off the Bruins for so long. With under seven minutes to go,
Maggie Phillips drilled home a free-kick goal to break the deadlock. Then, with mere seconds left,
Taylor Ho found the back of the net to lock in the Bruin victory.
By keeping up the pressure and wearing down the defense, the Bruins were able to break through when it counted most. Incredibly, the Bruin defense was impenetrable as George Fox outshot Pacific 21-0 in the match, leading to a very relaxing day for goalkeeper
Sara Thudium.

"The team showed a lot of grit through the last eight days," said head coach
Laura Schott. "It took a lot of focus to perform well in each game and take them one at a time. It was a good stretch for us and we look forward to the coming week.
