Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox men's soccer team finished off another week of its spring 2021 season with a 2-0 win over Pacific (Ore.) on the Boxers' pitch.
How It Happened
The Bruins struck first with a goal near the end of the first period. After successfully defending a Boxer set piece, the Bruins set up a counter attack and won a free kick from a Boxer miscue. Alan Rincon sent a ball in for Bryce Turnipseed who finished it for the score with a header.
The Bruins were able to net an insurance goal midway through the second half with a ball sent in by Kevin Garcia that Solek Ashkinos finished for the 2-0 lead.
Jackson Keller followed that goal with a shot on frame on the next possession, but it was turned away by the Boxers' keeper. The hosting Boxers got off one more shot with four seconds left in the match, but Cole Benton made the save to keep his clean sheet.
Top Performers
Benton earned his clean sheet win of 2021 with three saves, and Ashkinos and Turnipseed each made the most of their scoring chances to claim the win.
What It Means
The Bruins improve to 2-2 on the year overall and in conference play, while the Boxers fall to 1-4.
