NEWBERG, Ore. ---Â The George Fox women's soccer team tied the game late, but a Puget Sound goal in the closing minutes pushed the undefeated Loggers past the Bruins, 2-1.
How It HappenedÂ
Puget Sound entered the game outscoring opponents 8-0 and sitting at second in the NWC with a 6-0-1 record. The Bruins looked to attack the vaunted Logger defense, recording several corner kicks and a few shots early on. However, UPS struck first with a goal by Genny Jilka in the 39th minute.
The Bruins chipped away at the Logger defense in the second half until freshman Taylor Ho punched a ball into the top right corner to knot the game up. It was the first goal that Puget Sound had conceded all season. Less than two minutes later, though, Kylee Roath retaliated with a goal off of a free-kick to give Puget Sound a 2-1 lead. Megan Harrington was able to get a shot on goal for the Bruins in the closing minutes, but the Bruins were unable to score.
