TACOMA, Wash.-- In an aggressive game that saw plenty of intensity, the George Fox men's soccer team fell to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes, 5-1.
How It Happened
The Sunday game was the first of the weekend for the Bruins following an air quality advisory postponing the Puget Sound game the day before. Coming in fresh, the two teams traded shots for the first 20 minutes, George Fox broke through with a goal by
Eugene Peltier off an assist by
Joshua Chang. The Bruins were looking for counterattacks throughout the first half to defend against an aggressive Lutes team, which paid off on Peltier's goal.
Pacific Lutheran would not stay away, and in the 34th minute of the half the Lutes put a header into the back of the net to tie the game. After another Lute goal in the waning minutes of the first quarter, the Bruins went into halftime hanging tight with the second-place team in the conference, down 2-1.
The Lutes scored early in the second half, scoring in the 46th minute, putting them up 3-1. PLU added two more goals in the 53rd, and 61st minutes to push the score up to 5-1.
