NEWBERG, Ore. -- In their last game of the season, the Bruins closed out their year with a 3-0 victory over Willamette.
How It Happened
After Senior Day celebrations, the Bruins came out with energy and enthusiasm from the opening minutes. Senior
Maggie Phillips, playing her final game in a Fox uniform, set the tone in the second minute with a shot that rocked off the crossbar.
Keeping the pressure early,
Hannah Beardemphl found the back of the net after recovering a deflected shot from
Willa Evans less than 20 minutes into the game, giving the Bruins an early 1-0 lead. Less than 5 minutes later, Maggie Philips scored the Bruins second goal of the game with the help of an assist from
Maggie Choate — the senior to senior connection kept the Bruin bench energized. After playing stellar defense, including a save by goalie
Bella Salazar, the Bruins took their 2-0 lead into halftime.
After a solid defensive start for both teams in the second half, the Bruins were able to break through at about the halfway point of the period to score their third goal of the game and up their lead to 3-0. This time it was
Taylor Ho who drove home the point, taking an assist from Maggie Philips and putting a beautiful ball just over the outstretched arms of the goalie. After more solid defense from the Bruins, they held on to a 3-0 win in their final game of the year.

Maggie Philips led the way for the Bruins' offensively, with 7 shots that included a goal and an assist,, while
Taylor Ho and
Hannah Beardemphl also each contributed a goal. Defensively, the Bruins played very well, holding their opponents to no points with
Zirce Valeriano and
Bella Salazar each recording a save.
Coach's Thoughts
"Today was a fitting end to another great year," Bruin head coach
Laura Schott said, "Thank you to the seniors for all they have accomplished. I can't wait for 2023."

The Bruins end their season with a 10-4-4 overall record with an 8-4-4 record in conference play, landing them at third place in conference rankings.
