PASADENA, Calif. --- The No. 16 George Fox men's tennis program fell, 5-4, in a tough matchup with the No. 18 CalTech Beavers on the road in a Friday evening matchup.
How It Happened
The Beavers took two of three doubles matchups to start the evening with a lead. Fox won its no. 1 matchup after Luke Lemaitre and Will Leach won, 8-5, to stave off a sweep.
Leach and Lemaitre also won their singles matchups to get the Bruins back on track. Leach earned a 6-3, 6-1 win on court one and Lemaitre won 6-4, 6-0 on court two.
The Beavers won the no. 4 & no. 6 matchups to pull back in front on the team scoresheet, but Rox Rogers won a three-set tiebreak match on court three to level it off again at 4-4. Rogers fell behind in the first set before fighting back to win, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. For the third time in three matches, it once again came down to Ryan Olson playing a marathon matchup to decide the team's fate. Olson was unable to come away with the win, but his grit was on display as he took the Beavers' no. 5 to the edge in a 6-4, 2-6, 4-6 defeat.
