Fox Stays Perfect After Scoring 20 In McMinnville

McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- The women's lacrosse team got another Northwest Conference win on Sunday, Mar. 6, after dropping the Linfield Wildcats, 20-10, in the Cats' home stadium.

How It Happened

Fox grabbed an early 4-1 lead midway through the first quarter with quick strikes from Olivia Geyling, Lyla Roy, and a pair of goals from Andrea Garcia-Milla. Geyling also found the back of the net in the closing seconds after getting a feed from Carleigh DeLapp for a 5-2 lead.

DeLapp scored unassisted to open the second quarter, and after Garcia-Milla gave her an assist, DeLapp added another to make it 7-3.

Kyra Barnes had a hat trick in the second quarter alone, and scores from Marena Tharpe and Bailey Faust made it 12-6 in favor of Fox at the halftime buzzer.

The Bruins doubled up the 'Cats in the second half as well and netted six of the seven goals that were scored in the third quarter. Tharpe, Barnes, Roy, and Garcia-Milla put in at least one each in the period to lead, 18-7, after 45 minutes of game action.

With the running clock on in the fourth,  Barnes added another for good measure and Tharpe notched a hat trick after getting an assist from Roy for the 20-10 final.

Top Performances

For the second time in as many games, Barnes netted six goals in a 60-minute span to lead all scorers, finding unguarded twine on six of her seven shots. Garcia-Milla scored four and helped on three more, Tharpe scored three with two assists, and as a team, the Bruins committed just four turnovers. Ella Rand led all four goalies that saw time with seven saves against 13 shots on goal.

What It Means

Fox is still undefeated in the young 2022 season with a 3-0 record and a 2-0 mark in conference games.
