McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- George Fox faced No. 37 Linfield in its Northwest Conference Tournament semifinal matchup on the Wildcats' courts and fell, 9-0, to the ninth-best team in the West Region.
How It Happened
The Wildcats and Bruins chose to play to completion instead of merely playing to clinch, and Linfield started off on good footing against Fox with a 3-0 sweep of doubles. Kalli Wiker and Cassey Hitch were able to battle to an 8-4 defeat on court two and made the Wildcats work for each game of the set.
In singles, Ellie Mangan took the Wildcats' no. 2 player, ranked no. 24 in the region, to a superset final in a 6-4, 0-6, 0-1 (7-10) defeat, but it was a great battle for the Bruins' no. 2.
Danielle Brown capped her Bruin career with a 6-1, 6-2 battle against the Cats' no. 1, Hitch took three games from Linfield's no. 6 player, and Wiker won two games against the Wildcats' no. 3.
