NEWBERG, Ore. --- After a 3-1 loss against Multnomah a week before, the Bruins held off La Verne, 3-2, to win their first game of the season Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
Ten minutes into the first half, the George Fox offense roared to life, rattling off two goals into the second against La Verne. The first was scored by
Eugene Peltier, who converted on a close net opportunity to give Fox a 1-0 advantage. Fifteen minutes later,
Robert Rodarte found the back of the net for the second time that half, extending their lead to two — the first halftime lead of the season for Fox.
Coming out hot from the halftime break, Fox's
Joshua Chang drove home yet another goal early on in the second half, burying La Verne in a 3-0 deficit with the minutes ticking away. However, the Leopards were able to rally, scoring two goals as the game wound down. With the game back within one goal, Fox's stellar defense shut the door on the Leopards to pick up their first victory of the season, 3-2.
