TACOMA, Wash. – With the game tied at zero and less than ten seconds left on the clock, the Puget Sound Loggers had the ball with a chance to sink the George Fox Bruins' men's soccer team; but keeper
Keoni Gavino had a miraculous save in the final seconds to preserve the tie.
How It Happened
The Bruins had a scoring opportunity right away in the first half, three minutes in a corner kick led to a shot for
Joshua Chang, but the shot was saved by the Loggers keeper. The Bruins blocked a Logger's shot in the 18th minute to keep them off the scoreboard. Gavino picked up his first save of the game in the 21st minute of the half, stopping the only on target that the Loggers had in the first half. Neither team got a shot off for the next twenty minutes, until
Connor Kong put a shot on goal in the 43rd minute that was stopped by the Loggers. The drought continued after halftime, as there wasn't a shot on goal again until the 56th minute.
Cody DeMarino's shot on goal couldn't find the back of the net however, leaving the game stuck in a scoreless tie.
After an extended period where the Bruins were on their heels as the Loggers forced goal-kick after goal-kick. Fox managed to work the ball back into striking distance in the 75th minute, when
Kaimi Victor put a shot on target – this shot would be stopped by the Loggers as well.
Santiago Munevar and
Eugene Peltier had back-to-back shots on goal stopped in the 79th and 80th minutes, and Munevar put one more on target in the 84th that also couldn't get through. The frantic play continued into the last minute of the game, when the Loggers had the ball deep into the GFU side. UPS bounced the ball into the box, as the clock ticked to less than ten, keeper
Keoni Gavino dove to his left and stopped the shot, and as the final whistle blew, the Bruins found themselves in a 0-0 tie.

Coach's Thoughts
"UPS asked a number of tactical questions of us, and the guys did a fantastic job of making the adjustments we asked them to make," said Bruin head coach
Paul Karver, "A point on the road in conference is always difficult, and this is especially true vs a team that has been playing as well as they have. A little rest and going back to work this week will be fun as we prepare to finish strong with our final 2 games at home."
What It Means
Fox now sits at 5-10-3 (4-7-3 NWC), and the Loggers are 7-3-6 (5-3-6 NWC).
