NEWBERG, Ore. — The George Fox lacrosse team continued their dominance with another double-digit victory over Carroll today, their first over a non-conference opponent. After outscoring their opponents, 13-4, through the first two quarters, the Bruins emerged victorious, 21-7.
How It Happened
The Bruins got started a little "slower" than their usual blazing starts, scoring four points in the first quarter to take a healthy 4-0 lead. However, the defense was able to prevent Carroll from converting on opportunities, holding the Pioneers to no goals on five shots — with four shots saved by Bruin goalie Emma Webb.
The Bruins turned it up in the second quarter, exploding for a nine goal output to give them a 13-4 lead at the half. This was mainly due to the Bruins' offensive aggression, taking 15 shots as opposed to Carroll's five. Seven different players scored as Fox charged ahead to an 11-point lead.
After stellar defense once again held Carroll to one point as the Bruins took a commanding 18-5 lead into the final quarter with five points in the third. This was once again due to the onslaught by the Bruins, as they outshot Carroll 9-1 in the period. The closing saw the Bruins solidify their lead and victory, winning their seventh in a row, 21-7.
