ORLANDO, Fla. -- The George Fox women's tennis continued its string of matches in Florida with two additional games on Friday, losing, 3-6, to both Wisconsin Eau-Claire and St. Olaf.
How It Happened - Wisconsin-Eau Claire
In the doubles matches, the Bruins saw themselves in some highly competitive matches. On court one, the duo of Cassy Hitch and Oliva Morris found themselves down, 5-1. Just it seemed like they were out of the match, the two tied it up, 5-5. The game continued to go back and forth before Bluegolds got the win, 8-7 (8-6).
In #2 doubles, Arianna Rader and Kalli Wiker played in another back-and-forth match, outlasting their opponents to get the win, 8-6. The Bruins would leave doubles trailing, 2-1.
Heading into singles, Kalli Wiker made quick work of her opposition getting a, 6-0, win in set one before Clare Palen retired from the match. Fox was able to get an additional win in singles, as Arianna Rader outlasted Morgan Nelson, getting the win, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
How It Happened - St. Olaf
With a repeat of Thursday, the team found themselves playing against their opponents just minutes after finishing up game one; this time around, the Bruins faced St. Olaf. After some adjustments in doubles, Fox picked up one win.
One court one, the team of Cassy Hitch and Kalli Wiker kept their match close, but lost, 8-4. Ellie Mangan and Oliva Morris dominated their matchup, winning 8-2. In the final doubles match of the day, Brenna VanderYacht and Arianna Rader fell short, 8-6.
Moving on to singles, the Bruins saw one win come in quickly. In less than one hour, Sophie Denham was victorious in her matchup, 6-1, 6-1. Denham is now 2-0 in Orlando and is currently undefeated on the season.
In the #5 matchup, Cassey Hitch picked up a win in her first set, 6-3, before losing the second set by the same score. The match would head into a third-set tie-breaker to decide the winner, where Hitch earned a clutch super set win, 11-9.
