NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox softball team never trailed on Monday, taking the series against Puget Sound with two additional wins, 8-3 and 6-2.
Game One
The Bruins went with pitcher
Ashley Davis, a move that kept the Loggers at bay. The first inning would go scoreless with the Loggers leaving one on base and the Bruins leaving 3 stranded.
Davis saw only three batters in the second inning, and Fox quickly found their bats in the second inning, getting three runs on five hits. Second up to bat in the inning,
Kamryn Potter, would go yard, driving in
Kimberly Pulido and putting the Bruins up, 2-0.
Sydney Sandifer was able to get one more run in with her RBI single down the left field line.
After another quiet inning from the Loggers, the Fox got one additional run in during the third after
Aliya Harmon scored on a fielder's choice, ending the inning up, 4-0. Davis again only saw three batters from the Puget Sound once again, striking out one, and allowing only three hits through the end of the third inning.
The Bruins struck again in the fifth, when
Sharon Tomei doubled to left field to bring in
Kamryn Potter. Heading into the sixth inning,
Reagan Medina scored on a sacrifice fly from
Aliya Harmon. Next up,
Ashley Sansoni homered, getting two additional runs on the board. Putting the Bruins up, 8-3.
Emma Eastman stepped in in the seventh for Davus, only giving up one hit in the inning, and wrapping up the win in game one, 8-3.
Game Two
Just like game one, the first inning ended scoreless — both sides seeing only three batters apiece. This time around, it would be pitcher
Kami Gibson for the Bruins, who only needed to throw seven pitches to end the first.
The Bruins changed that trend in the second inning when
Emma Classen tripled down the right-field line to bring around
Reagan Medina for the score. On the next play,
Aliya Harmon knocked in a second run for the Bruins. Harmon eventually was able to score herself after
Kamryn Potter hit a two-RBI double to left field. Puget Sound drew closer in the third, when Jessica Moore scored on a sacrifice hit.
Gibson continued her work on the mound, seeing only three batters once in the fourth inning before one run came in in the fifth. One inning later, Potter reached first with a walk, soon advancing to second on a wild pitch.
Emma Classen singled to left field, allowing pinch-runner
Madelyn Loughary and
Kamryn Potter to score. Gibson made quick work of the Loggers in the top of the seventh inning, throwing only six pitches to close out the game, 6-2.
