Fox Remains Undefeated in Conference After Dominant Display Against Whitman

NEWBERG, Ore. — The George Fox women's lacrosse team delivered yet another dominant performance in a possible championship preview against Whitman, running away to a 21-9 on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:
The game began in a scoring frenzy, with Olivia Geyling needing only 22 seconds to open the scoring for the Bruins. Less than a minute later, a goal from Lana Davis put Fox up, 2-0, before Whitman struck back with two goals of their own. The two teams traded goals back and forth for the entire quarter, and though the Bruins outshot the Blues 16-7, Fox held a narrow 6-4 lead moving into the second period.

Fox extended their lead to 12-5 at the half after the unrelenting offense converted six of ten shots on goal. Carleigh DeLapp, Marena Tharpe, and Lana Davis all found the net before a hat trick by Geyling ended the quarter.

The Bruins pulled away at the beginning of the second half, tacking on five goals in the third period before another four in the final quarter sealed the victory. Fox outshot the Blues 46-22, with 34 on goal. The defense forced 23 turnovers, and despite facing more shots on goal than usual, goalie Emma Webb put on a solid display with three saves in the final quarter alone.

Top Performances
Once again, it was a well-rounded attack from the Bruins offense, with seven players recording three or more points. Olivia Geyling finished the day with four goals and four assists, while Marena Tharpe finished with three goals and three assists. Carleigh DeLapp picked up seven ground balls on the day, while goalie Emma Webb finished with seven saves.
