NEWBERG, Ore. — Hot off a win in California, the Bruins carried their momentum into their first conference matchup, collecting a 1-0 win over Pacific to begin the NWC slate on a high note.
How It Happened
Hoping to set the tone right out of the gate, the both teams showed high energy to begin the game, with both defenses keeping the ball away from the net. The Bruins would only record one shot in the first 39 minutes on a ball from
Joshua Chang. However, with five minutes remaining, Fox broke through, rolling down the field with a couple beautiful passes and allowing
Eugene Peltier to find the back of the net with an assist from
Cody DeMarino. The Bruins defense held firm going into the half, allowing the Bruins to carry a 1-0 lead into the second half.
The Bruins defense continued to shine in the second half, preventing the Boxers from gaining any momentum throughout the half. Though a couple shots scared the goal,
Keoni Gavino and the rest of the Bruins defense locked down the score to shut out the Boxers and collect their first conference win of the season.
