NEWBERG, Ore. – The George Fox women's soccer team never found their legs against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes, losing 8-1. 

How It Happened
The game opened in a fierce contest for possession, with both teams fighting to control the ball. Willa Evans opened the scoring in the 12th minute, driving a penalty kick into the bottom left corner to give Fox the lead, 1-0. 

However, Pacific Lutheran appeared unfazed by the early setback, and the close game quickly transformed into a one-sided affair. The Lutes leveled the game with a goal in the 23rd minute before scoring four more times in the next eleven minutes to extend their lead, to 5-1. The Bruins managed four shots on goal in the half but could not break through the Lutes defense. 

The Lutes tacked on three more goals in the second half, as the Bruins could only produce three shots, two of which were on goal. The final whistle blew with the score 8-1, leaving the Bruins nothing to do but to move forward to their next contest.

Top Performers
Willa Evans netted the second goal of her senior season, and Becca Kozak had two shots on goal.

Coach's Thoughts
"Not our day. PLU showed why they've won conference so many times. Congrats to them," said Bruins head coach Laura Schott, "Our team is looking forward to growing and coming back better."

What It Means
The Bruins fall to 2-3-2 (0-2-1 NWC) on the season, while Pacific Lutheran improves to 4-2-1 (2-1 NWC).

The Bruins will look to bounce back tomorrow with a game against Willamette. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. in Salem, Ore.
