Late Goal Gives Bruins a Win on the Road

Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. -- The George Fox women's soccer team secured a 1-0 win over Lewis and Clark on Saturday. 

How It Happened 
The first half of the game was quite uneventful and unsuccessful. George Fox had a total of 11 shots up against Lewis and Clark's six. Each team went back and forth but failed to finish shots. When the second half came around, each time was dying to score. The Bruins had a total of 17 shots over the course of the game and the Pioneers had 16 shots.

Finally, in the 81st minute of the game, senior Becca Kozak put an end to the tie, scoring a low center goal after receiving an assist from teammate Isabella Hector. The Bruins added another win to their record before their final game of the season. 

Top Performers 
Becca Kozak scored a goal and had five shots. Isabella Hector had an assist and two shots. Goalkeeper Emily Robey had a shutout and the Bruin defense kept the Pioneers out. 

Coach's Thoughts
"Games with Lewis and Clark are always a battle," said Bruins head coach Laura Schott. "We played really well last Sunday against PLU, and today we had another strong performance. We are looking forward to our final game of 2024 tomorrow and celebrating our seniors!"

What It Means 
The George Fox women's soccer team now has an overall record of 6-10-3 and an NWC record of 3-9-3. Lewis and Clark now have an overall record of 4-12-3 and an NWC record of 2-7-1.

What Comes Next
The George Fox women's soccer team plays their final game against Linfield on Sunday, November 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:45pm.
