NEWBERG, Ore. – In their first Northwest Conference match, the George Fox women's tennis team beat the Lewis & Clark Pioneers, 8-1. Later in the afternoon, they hosted Highline Community College in a non-conference duel meet, winning 9-0.

The Bruins continue to set the tone early with their doubles play, picking up all three matches.
Kalli Wiker and
Riley Bobkiewicz won their match, 8-6.
Cassey Hitch and
Kylie Hull dominated their match, winning 8-1. On court three,
Shanah Denham and
Arianna Rader sealed the sweep with an 8-3 win over their opponents.
In singles play, Fox continued to roll. Despite her efforts,
Kalli Wiker could not take the win from the Pios number one, losing 6-3, 6-4. In a thrilling match,
Riley Bobkiewicz displayed resilience after dropping the first set 6-3, then coming back to win the second set 7-6, and the final deciding tie-breaker 10-7.
Elizabeth Cook continued to succeed in the number three position, winning 6-4, 6-3.
Kylie Hull came out strong in the first set, winning, 6-1, and then fighting for the win in the second set, 7-5.
Arianna Rader had a hard-fought comeback after dropping the first set 6-2. Rader won the second and third sets, 6-1 and 6-2.
Shanah Denham dominated her match to seal the win, winning, 6-2, 6-1.
How it Happened - Highline Community College
After a short break, the Bruins returned to the court to play their second match of the day, this time against Highline Community College. The Bruins sent out the same three teams as earlier in the day and would see that same success.
Riley Bobkiewicz and
Kalli Wiker set the tone with an 8-4 win against their opponent.
Cassey Hitch and
Kylie Hull swept in their 8-0 victory over Riley Cordova and Henleigh Elder, while
Arianna Rader and
Shanah Denham won, 8-1.
Moving into singles play,
Kalli Wiker dominated in her win in the number one spot, 6-2, 6-1.
Kylie Hull saw a similar scoreline, 6-0, 6-1, in her win against Riley Cordova.
Cassey Hitch earned a hard-fought win in the number three spot, 4-6, 6-0, 10-3.
Sophie Denham won in her close two set match, 7-5, 7-6.
Abigail Bond continued the winning streak with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 win over Caley Buchan.
Shanah Denham closed out the competition with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Denali Terry, earning the Bruins the 9-0 win.
What Comes Next
Fox now has a 6-1 record (1-0 NWC) on the season. The Bruins will have a quick turnaround as they travel to McMinnville to play Linfield in another Northwest Conference match. The match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday March 3rd.
