Johnson in Third, Fox in Second After First Day in North Plains

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. -- Facing conference competition for the first time in 2025, the George Fox women's golf team finished in second place on day one of the Pacific Invitational thanks to a score of 307 (+23). 

Top Performances
First up for the Bruins was Ashlyn Johnson, who placed in third with a 75 (+4). She did well on the front nine, earning a birdie on hole one. Abby Matelski and Katelyn Lam were next for George Fox, both tying for fifth. Matelski had two birdies—one on the front nine and one on the back—and Lam also earned a birdie on the 13th hole. Overall, both players had a total score of 77 (+6). 

Sofia Itziar Ayesa finished the day in 8th with a cumulative score of 78 (+7), and earned a birdie on the fourth hole. Samara D'Silva scored 79 (+8) and tied for tenth, while individual player Reyna Naranjo also tied for tenth with a 79 (+8). 

Taking first place on day one of the invitational was Lewis & Clark University with a cumulative score of (+20). The top player for individual play was Ahika Jani from Lewis & Clark, who was the lone player under par with her total of 70 (-1). 

What Happens Next
The Lady Bruins will continue to play for their second day in the Pacific Invitational on Sunday, October 4. Tee time is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
