McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- After 46 consecutive losses to Linfield, the George Fox women's tennis team picked up their third straight win over the Wildcats, making quick work of the home team in a 7-0 win.
How It Happened
The Bruins won two of the three doubles matches to take an early lead. At No. 1 doubles, Shanah and
Sophie Denham fought hard but ultimately fell to Linfield's Kaitlynn Canubida and Emma Tuttle, 4-6. However, George Fox bounced back with a commanding 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, as
Juhree Kizziar and
Abigail Bond breezed by. A withdrawal on court three gave
Kalli Wiker,
Nicole Schnurbusch, and the entire Bruin team a win to secure the doubles point.Â
The Bruins excelled in singles, winning all six matches to seal their victory. On court one,
Kalli Wiker battled through a three-set match to defeat Emma Tuttle 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
Shanah Denham followed with another three-set victory, overcoming Kaitlynn Canubida 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Cassey Hitch delivered a dominant performance on court three, cruising to a 6-0, 6-, while Ari Rader continued the Bruins' momentum with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory oncourt four.
Abigail Bond secured a solid 6-2, 6-2 win over Elise Reese at No. 5 singles. George Fox also claimed the No. 6 singles match by default, as
Nicole Schnurbusch won without competition.
