PORTLAND, Ore. -- After taking the first game 6-1 back in February, the Bruins drop game two 5-2 against Lewis and Clark.
How It Happened
Fox had a minor setback in the doubles matches, losing the point 2-1 and giving the Pioneers the early 1-0 match lead.
Keita Shoji and
Zach Moore got things done early, winning 6-3 to give the Bruins an advantage. They couldn't quite capitalize as
Lars Schmassmann and
Ikuho Ebisu, as well as
Jackson Whittaker and
Luis Hernandez both dropped their matches 6-4.Â
The close matches set up a wild singles scene to finish out the day. Four of the six matches went the distance, with the Pioneers taking three of the four. That ended up being the difference as the Bruins came home with their first loss to Lewis and Clark since 2018.Â
Schmassmann was back in the No. 1 spot after sitting out of the singles matches yesterday, picking up a win for the Bruins 6-2, 6-2. Moore also played quite well, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 to cap off an undefeated weekend in both singles and doubles play. The rest of the matches went to the Pioneers, as Ebisu lost 1-6, 6-1, 1-6, Shoji lost 6-4, 2-6, 2-6, Whittaker lost 6-3, 0-6, 7(7) - 6(4), and Hernandez rounded things out with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat.Â
