SALEM, Ore. -- After a tight bout of doubles matches with the Willamette Bearcats, the Bruins kicked it into high gear and made quick work in singles play.
How it Happened
The Bruins started their day with an intense 7-5 victory in the No.1 doubles match, with the steady duo of
Riley Bobkiewicz and
Kalli Wiker taking the victory in extra games.
Sophie Denham and
Shanah Denham played the best doubles match of the Bruin pairs, taking home the victory 6-3 to secure the doubles point for the squad.
Abigail Bond and
Arianna Rader rounded out doubles play with a close 6-4 victory to complete the doubles sweep.
The singles matches were all Bruins as no Bearcat won more than two games in a set. Wiker returned to the No. 1 singles spot after spending some time as the No. 2 last weekend, clinching her match 6-2, 6-2 in the tightest singles match of the afternoon. Bobkiewicz also won with ease, defeating Willamette's Sofia Spencer 6-2, 6-0. The Denham sisters both played similar matches as they both swept the first set before going nearly perfect in the second. Shanah won 6-0, 6-1 and Sophie won 6-0, 6-2.
Cassey Hitch and
Juhree Kizziar rounded things out for the Bruins, both winning their matches 6-0, 6-0, to sweep the Bearcats.

The Bruins return to the Multi-Use Facility in Newberg tomorrow, March 9th to face No. 17 ranked singles player Cassidy Binder and the Pacific Boxers.
