EUGENE, Ore. – A first minute goal by Makena Spear manifested a hasty lead, but the Bruins could not break the stalemate in the second half resulting in a tie against the Bushnell Beacons (1-1).
How It Happened
Makena Speer struck early, taking all of 50 seconds to breach the Beacons' 18-yard box while evading defenders to put the Bruins up 1–0 at blazing speed. Proving herself to be a threat, Speer took a second shot in the 28th minute, which the Beacons managed to block.
Morgan Phalen joined the fray with a relentless shot attempt just 20 seconds later, keeping the Beacons on their toes despite not finding the back of the net.
Junior
Emily Robey controlled the Beacons' two shots on goal, adding two saves to her season and allowing the Bruins to maintain their 1–0 lead going into the second half.
Bushnell managed to tie the score in the 56th minute. It appeared that Fox had broken the tie with a goal in the 60th minute, but the shot was disallowed. Determined to limit the damage, Robey laid out to make another save, defending the net and keeping Bushnell at bay with the score level at 1–1. In the final minutes of the game, neither team could break the deadlock before the final whistle. The Beacons matched the Bruins in shots (eight) and goals (one), resulting in a 1–1 draw.
