PORTLAND, Ore. - Following two early goals by Lewis and Clark, the George Fox women's soccer team rallied defensively in the second half, but fell to the River Otters, 3-0.
How It Happened
The Bruins got off to a strong start with an early free kick by
Erin Lam after a foul deep in LC territory. Responding quickly, Lewis and Clark took the ball downfield, where the fast reflexes of
Addie Wolff deflected a dangerous attack from a corner kick.
Momentum for the Bruins came to a halt after L&C's Kaedance Stubbs scored the first goal of the game and her first collegiate goal in the 9th minute of the game. George Fox fought to even the score, with Lam's shot going wide of the goal. 7 minutes later, Riley Yip narrowly scored on the Bruins after a bobble at the goal, bringing the score up 2-0. This would be the first time all season that the River Otters have scored two goals in a game.
The Bruin defense was tight moving into the second half, effectively locking down offensive pushes by Lewis and Clark. Fox's offense rallied and shot three times within two minutes, with Bruin
Sarah Burkes nailing the crossbar and E. Lam shooting on goal in the top right.
Lewis and Clark effectively put the game away in the 86th minute when Mischa Vanek placed a shot low right, sneaking into the goal.
