Three Wins in a Row for Bruins After Beating Puget Sound 7-0

Newberg, Ore. — The Bruins men's tennis team concluded their weekend with a 7-0 finish against Puget Sound at home.

How It Happened
The Bruins have built a three-game win streak in the Northwest after today's clean sweep over the Loggers. A third set wasn't required in any of the day's matches to secure the victory for the Bruins.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Ikuho Ebisu and Zach Moore swept their opponents, 6-0, while the closest doubles match of the day fell into the capable hands of Luis Hernandez and Aiden Cruz. The pair allowed three games to Puget Sound in their 6-3 victory on court two en route to the clean sweep. Joseph Vece and Keita Shoji sealed the win on court three with a 6-2 finish against partners Vincent Unpingco and Reef Gelder, paving the way for an undefeated campaign in singles for the Bruins.

Moore took home the victory in two sets against his adversary on court one. The junior captured his first set 6-2 and faced formidable competition in set two, with Gavin Dille securing four games but ultimately falling to Moore, 6-4. Shoji kept the train rolling with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court two. Hernandez, on court three, saw his first set go his way, 6-3, and kept his foot on the gas in set two, shutting out his opponent with a 6-0 finish.

On court four, Ebisu surrendered only two games to Sebastian Silverstein of the Loggers in his 6-2 first-set victory before winning set two handily, 6-0. Cruz continued to shine in his freshman campaign, holding down the No. 5 matchup, 6-0, 6-1. The shortest win of the day transpired on court six, with Vece winning by default, 8-2, in his matchup against Aidan Kresko of Puget Sound.

Fox continues to find its footing against conference opponents this season and hopes to extend its winning streak.

What's Next
The Bruins will return to the courts Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 a.m. to take on the Whitman Blues in Walla Walla, Wash.
