ORLANDO, Fla. -- After weather forced the cancellation of two of their matches, the George Fox men's tennis team finished their shortened Florida trip with a 7-0 loss to No. 37 Franklin & Marshall.
How It Happened
The Bruins fought hard but started their day with three losses in the doubles matches. The duos of
Ikuho Ebisu and
Zach Moore, as well as
Aiden Cruz and
Keita Shoji each lost their matches, 6-3. On court three, the team of
Joseph Vece and
Luis Hernandez fell, 6-2.
On the singles side,
Zach Moore was the lone Bruin player to force a third set. Against a regionally-ranked opponent in Luke Brodsky, Moore dropped the first set, 6-4, before dominating the second, 6-1. In the tiebreaker set, the junior hung around but came up short, losing the point 10-6.Â
Ikuho Ebisu also put up a fight on court three, hanging around in both of his sets against the Diplomats' Samuel Donnelly. Ebisu lost the first set, 6-4, and got within 6-5 on his next attempt, but ultimately dropped the match with a 7-5 second set loss.
Keita Shoji (1-6, 1-6),
Luis Hernandez (3-6, 2-6),
Aiden Cruz (0-6, 0-6), and and
Joseph Vece (2-6, 0-6) all fell in their sets of action to conclude the day for the Bruins, as well as the Florida trip.

The Bruins fall to 5-6 on the season, while No. 37 Franklin & Marshall moves to 5-2 overall.
What Happens Next
With Fox's four-game Florida trip shortened to two games, the Bruins will return to Northwest Conference play with a game against Willamette on Saturday, March 28. The game, scheduled to take place in Salem, Ore., will begin at 11:00 a.m.
