Bruins Rout Boxers 20–2 in Forest Grove

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The George Fox women's lacrosse team dominated against the Pacific Boxers, scoring 15 goals in the first three quarters en route to a 20-2 victory.

How It Happened
Starting the first period, draw control was won by the Boxers, but Fox claimed the first goal when Sasha Thayer scored a free-position shot. Ava Bluhm won draw control immediately following, and a few minutes later, Lana Davis scored the second goal, driving around to the front.

Then, the Bruins had a three-goal run in just one minute, as Naomi Rauch scored a goal after Claire Abraham swooped in with the ground ball pickup. Abraham then won the draw control, Audrey White stepping in to pass the ball to Merrick Gibson who then scored the next two goals—5-0.

With just under four minutes left, Ava Bluhm attempted a shot, but it missed the net wide—eventually the Bruin was able to score the goal. Meanwhile, Pacific was picking up on their offense, but Jasmine Uresti stole the ball back with a ground ball pickup, passing it around eventually to Gibson who scored the seventh of the first quarter—the period ending at 7-0.

There was some back-and-forth action for the first couple minutes of the second quarter, but Fox claimed the control when Ava Bluhm scored on a free-position goal. Davis won draw control and in the next minute, scored a solid goal right through the goalkeeper.

The Boxers attempted to gain traction, but the Bruins were too strong as they scored two more points—Davis locked in a goal once again on a free-position shot, while Alli Stilp scored in between won draw controls by Bluhm.

Fox was already ahead by eleven points, but they weren't finished yet; with three and a half minutes remaining in quarter two, Abraham tried to swing, missing the shot too far wide, but Thayer picked up after her, scoring the twelfth goal. Then, Davis passed the ball to Rauch, allowing her to score a clean goal, 13-0.

For the first half of the third quarter, both teams wrestled for dominance, but by the five and a half minute mark, Thayer snatched the ball, passed it to Davis who scored like lightning. Davis won draw control right after that, setting the Bruins up for success—and scoring the next goal with a mega lead, 15-0.

Finally, with just one second left of the third period, the Pacific Boxers made their first goal, marking the scoreboard 15-1. But Fox had more fire left in them—as Pacific was attempting shots, the Bruins stole the ball back, and Thayer slipped in another goal.

With less than ten minutes on the clock, Fox made a three-point run; Jenna Clark passed the ball to Callie Olsen who made a powerful goal. Then, Clark got her turn to shine when Olsen passed it to her, allowing her to lock in the next point. Finally, Davis made the next point, marking the score 19-1.

Pacific made their second goal with four minutes left, but Fox had one more as well, Abraham giving it all she had, attempting a shot and missing too far wide, but then launching it to the back of the net with willpower—the Lady Bruins claiming their next victory with a beautiful score of 20-2.
