DUPONT, Wash. -- The George Fox women's golf team finished out the Saint Martin's Invitational, competing against a collection of D-II teams — and not backing down from the challenge. After entering the day in fifth, Fox ended in a tie for third place with a score of 610 (+34). 

Top Performances
Katelyn Lam was the top finisher for the Bruins in 10th place, hitting a birdie to send her at 74 (+2) on round two and finishing with a tournament overall of 149 (+5). 

Abby Matelski bumped up from day one, hitting the day's best for Fox 73 (+1) thanks to 17 pars on all 18 holes. Matelski finished tied for 15th with a full-round score of 151 (+7). 

Ashlyn Johnson and Samara D'Silva shared 28th place, 155 (+11). They each stayed steady on the day, with S'Sukva starting with eight pars in her first nine holes and Johnson beginning with nine. The day's total for Johnson was 75 (+3), and for D'Silva 79 (+7). 

Reyna Naranjo trailed D'Silva with a day's 80 (+8), and overall, 164 (+20) for 53th place. Sofia Itziar Sequeira Ayesa, who was competing individually, came in 58th with, 170 (+26). 

Fox finished at an impressive third place among the Division II teams, a total team score of, 610 (+34). Oregon Tech and Seattle Pacific tied for first, both hitting 591 (+15). Individually, Emma Worgum held on to her lead from day one with, 140 (-4).

"We're incredibly excited about our climb up the leaderboard today," Bruin head coach MaryJo McCloskey said, "The Home Course presents a challenging test against a tough field of primarily D-II teams. So seeing our team make such a strong move is especially rewarding. Everyone has been working hard, and it's exciting to see that effort paying off. We are off to a great start, and I truly believe this is just the beginning of what this team is capable of accomplishing!"

What Happens Next
The Bruins will stay in state in North Plains, Ore., for the important Northwest Conference Fall Classic, hosted by Pacific, day one scheduled for Sunday, October 4th.
