PASADENA, Calif. — The George Fox men's soccer team finished their trip to California with a loss to Caltech, 3-0.
How It Happened
Fox came out aggressive early on, especially
Carson Tapia; just before the fourth minute mark, Tapia saw an opening for a shot, but was unfortunately saved by the Beavers goalkeeper. Caltech was quick to retaliate with shots in the seventh and eleventh minute, but Bruin goalkeeper
Chase Nelson was there to stop any Beaver offensive momentum.
Both teams continued their back-and-forth, but neither team could connect for the majority of the first half. George Fox's defense created a wall that the Beavers could not break through, until the final minutes. With a mere four minutes until the end of the half, Caltech was able to sneak in a goal to put themselves on the board, 1-0.
Despite the small break, the Beavers kept their offense hot into the second half. After only four minutes in, Caltech secured another goal to widen the gap in score to 2-0. The Bruins continued to put up a fight on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field; offensively, many players were able to get a few shots in, and the defense continued to prevent any more Beaver shots.
With only six seconds left in the half, Caltech snuck through GFU's defense to solidify their win with another goal. The Beavers took the game with a 3-0 win.

Leading Fox in shots taken was
Carson Tapia with four shots in total, with one on goal. Defensively,
Aidan Brouddus and
Cameron Wind played and fought the entire 90-minute game. Goalkeeper
Chase Nelson recorded three saves in the game.
What It Means
The Beavers rise to 2-0-0, while the Bruins fall to 0-2-0.
What Happens Next
The Bruins will be back in action on Friday, September 11 to begin NWC play on their home turf in Newberg, Ore. The game will be against Willamette and it is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm.
