Reba McLennan began as the cheer coach in April of 2018. She has guided the Cheer & STUNT program at George Fox through its transition from an extra-curricular club to competing nationally, helping the Bruins become one of the staples of Division III STUNT.
McLennan led the Bruins to the 2025 STUNT Division III National Championship in just the program's second full year of existence, earning the University's fifth national title since 2000. The Bruins earned their first-ever winning record with a 9-6 mark, including three victories over Division II schools. Fox earned the number one seed in the STUNT Championships, defeating Saint Mary's (Ind.) and Muskingum to move to the championship. In the finals, the Bruins agains faced Muskingum, defeating the Muskies on a late strategy call to win the D-III title, 9-7. Following their championship, seven Bruins were named CSCA All-Americans, with two earning major awards.
Prior to their title in 2025, McClennan led the team to the Division III semifinals in its inaugural season in 2024. While only going 4-10 on the season, the Bruins notched wins against #13 Saint Mary's and #9 Arizona Christian. For her efforts in guiding the Bruins in their first year, McLennan was named the CSCA Division III Coach of the Year
With her previous experience as a Division I competitive cheerleader, McLennan brings a highly competitive mindset to George Fox. While cheering competitively for four years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) she was a part of the nationally ranked program in the All-Girl DIA and All-Girl Game Day divisions.
As a competitor from 2011-15, McLennan became a three-time All-American and helped her team notch three Top 5 national finishes. She also brings a national perspective to the program, as she has been a staff member of the National Cheerleaders Association from 2013 to the present day.
“I feel so incredibly honored to have the opportunity to coach these young women," said coach McLennan. We have worked so hard to get to where we are, and I am so excited to see where we can take GFU Cheer & STUNT. With the program going under the umbrella of athletics, it gives us resources to expand the team and truly reach our goals!”
In addition to recruiting and coordinating a 20-member team, McLennan works to establish relationships with university board members & employees to successfully plan events for her squad, organize training and fitness programs for team members, and originate new routines and material for performances.
Prior to coaching at George Fox, McLennan was an assistant coach at Pacific University as well as head coaching stints at Southridge High School & Jesuit High School in Beaverton, Ore.
