Caleb Fernandez enters his second full season at the helm of the GFU men's golf program for the 2025-26 season.

Fernandez joined the Bruins' coaching ranks in the fall of 2020 as an assistant after completing a four-year playing career for the men's golf program, and was promoted to interim head coach in December of 2022 before becoming the official head coach in the summer of 2023.

In his first spring season under the helm, the Bruin men's golf team showed massive improvement, finishing in fifth at the NWC Spring Classic and coaching one First Team All-NWC golfer in Brenden Borck. In his first season with the interim tag removed, Fernandez helped guide the team to their lowest two-day score in program history with a 579 at the NWC Fall Classic.

His second season (and first as full-time head coach) saw the Bruins set many more records and finish the season strong. After a sixth-place finish in the Fall Classic, Fox ended with a second-place mark in the Spring Classic and a fourth-place finish in the NWC Championship to place fourth in the conference. The teams two-day score of 579 (+3) at the Spring Classic in Walla Walla, Wash., was tied for the lowest in team history alongside their 2024 Fall Classic performance, and Fox put two athletes on the all-conference team (Brendan Borck and Truman Fletcher) for the first time since 2020-21.

Fernandez was a core member of the 2019-20 senior class that elevated the program to new heights. During the 2019-20 season the Bruins won four consecutive tournaments, including the 2019 Fall Classic, before the COVID pandemic halted the team's momentum en route to what was likely a top finish in the conference that season.

Since playing at Fox, Fernandez has been golfing and playing in small tournaments during the summers while helping coach the team during the season. He has a passion for helping introduce golf to newer players and helping them improve their golf games. Fernandez and his wife, Shakayla, reside in Lafayette, Ore., 15 minutes from Newberg with their golden doodle Denver.
