David Swartout joined the Bruin’s golf coaching staff in 2025, bringing a lifelong love of the game and a passion for helping players grow. With years of competitive experience and leadership across several fields, he sees coaching as an opportunity to guide, motivate, and bring out the best in each player.
Swartout focuses on the mental side of the game; how players prepare, think, and respond under pressure. He believes that the best golf comes from discipline, emotional control, and trust in the process. He also knows that building a strong team culture where players push each other and enjoy the journey together creates a foundation for lasting success. He’s most proud of watching players mature into confident leaders who carry those lessons far beyond the course.
Off the course, Swartout leads a multi-site medical organization and brings the same principles to both roles: integrity, consistency, and service to others. Rooted in the George Fox community, Swartout’s connection is personal, with two of his children attending the university and his wife, Bonnie, a proud GFU graduate.
