Mitchell Miyashiro

Mitchell Miyashiro took over the helm for the spring of 2024 as the men's tennis interim head coach, and was elevated to head coach in the summer of 2024. Miyashiro, a 2016 graduate of George Fox, played for the men's tennis program in his time at Fox for four seasons, serving as the team captain for one. Following graduation, he served as an assistant coach at George Fox, coaching from 2017-19.

In the 2024-25 season, Miyashiro led the team to a 12-2 record in the Northwest Conference, placing second and advancing to the NWC final. The Bruins also boasted a 7-0 record at home, led by NWC Player of the Year and All-NWC first team honoree Lars Schmassmann. Schmassmann was joined by Zach Moore on the All-NWC first team, while Ikuho Ebisu rounded out the honors on the All-NWC second team. 

In his first spring as an interim head coach, Miyashiro led the team to a perfect 7-0 record in the NWC, beating Whitman to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Despite falling to #19 Redlands in the second round, the Bruin's showed their continued dominance of the Northwest Conference, raising their conference unbeaten streak to 36 games. Eli Mizerski earned the title of NWC Player of the Year along with being named to the All-NWC first team. Joining Mizerski on the All-NWC first team is Vahag Pashayan and Hunter Fujimori, with Lars Schmassmann rounding out the honors on the All-NWC second team. 

Spending time in both Hawaii and the Wilsonville area, Miyashiro rantennis camps, private lessons, tournaments, and coached high school tennis. In June of 2023, he was brought on as the head teaching pro for the Junior and Adult Programs at the George Fox Tennis Center. Miyashiro currently lives in Hillsboro with his wife, Linda, and three pomskies.
