Rachel Gibbs has served as an assistant coach for the cross country and distance track programs since 2018.
No cross country season was offered in the fall of 2020, but Gibbs continued to work with the distance group and has helped their emergence as an NWC power once again with multiple All-NWC performances at the 2021 NWC track & field championships.
After serving one season as interim co-head coach for the Bruins' cross country program in 2019-20 with Bryant Quinn, Gibbs helped steward the team to another championship for the men and assisted as Quinn was named the men's NWC Coach of the Year for cross country in 2019.
Gibbs joined the Bruins' staff in 2018 as an assistant coach for cross country and track and field. Gibbs helped the men's program capture the 2018 Northwest Conference Championship and also worked with the track and field teams in the spring, guiding both the men's and women's programs to NWC Championships in outdoor track and field. She also helped coach the women's program that earned a third-place finish at the Outdoor National Championships in 2019.
A former Bruin herself, Gibbs was a four-year member of the women's cross country team and competed for two seasons in track. Her accomplishments as an athlete include three top-five finishes at the NWC championships in the 800m and the 1500m outdoor track events, and two NWC Championship finishes as a member of the track team. Gibbs also played three seasons of collegiate lacrosse as a founding member of the Bruins' squad and helped the team capture an NWC Championship in 2016.
Gibbs graduated from George Fox in 2018 with B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Political Science. She grew up in Hillsboro, OR and graduated from Glencoe High School in 2013. In addition to coaching at George Fox, Gibbs works in a physical therapy clinic in Newberg as a physical therapy aide.
